Caroma
the company behind the name

~ Since 1941, Caroma has lead the way in quality and innovation.

The diverse company known today as Caroma was founded in 1941 by Charles Rothauser. Production and technological innovation began in 1945 with Mr. Rothauser's creation of the world's first transfer injection moulder. With this process the company produced the first plastic hypodermic syringe, then in 1956 the "Deluxe" all-plastic cistern. It won the first of many awards for Caroma including the FH Edwards Laurel in 1956.

Today Caroma is regarded as the undisputed leader in the Australasian sanitaryware industry.

Caroma is a wholly owned subsidiary of GWA International Limited, a Brisbane based, Australian owned company, with diverse interests including Sebel Furniture, Rover Mowers, Poolrite, Dux Water Heaters and Gainsborough Hardware. GWA employs more than 2900 people.

With a variety of manufacturing operations across several states, Caroma offers experienced manufacturing skills second to none.

Caroma is dedicated to staying No. 1 in the marketplace.

Caroma's history of design and product leadership has been achieved by a total commitment to research and development in all areas of quality, aesthetics and technical excellence. By constantly reviewing, updating, deleting and adding to the product range as the market or fashion dictates, Caroma continually provides the most comprehensive range of reliable, quality, fashion coordinated bathroom products in Australia.

World leaders in Environmental ingenuity.

Caroma is acutely aware of the need to conserve Australia's and the world's natural resources. Through the years Caroma has pioneered a number of significant product developments - and introduced the first, truly effective, two button dual flush cistern, followed in 1993 by the first 1.6/0.8 gallon (6/3 litre) dual flush cistern offering water saving benefits on a scale previously unavailable anywhere in the world. This single innovation has the potential to reduce water usage by up to 67% compared with the traditional 2.9 gallon (11 litre) single flush cistern.

Caroma continually initiates products which minimize man's impact on the environment. Our dedicated research and development team strive to develop water and noise efficient products. And sometimes it's the little things that make a difference such as our "Super Quiet, Fast Fill Inlet Valve," a vast improvement on traditional valves.
