~ One of plumbing's biggest developments

stt assembly In 1998 Caroma notched another world first with the introduction of STT - a revolutionary tap system comprising body, spindle and breeching piece made entirely from engineering polymer.

Developed at the Norwood (South Australia) R&D facility, STT has been awarded a prestigious 1999 Australian Design Award for Engineering excellence. The new tap system offers numerous advantages over its traditional brass predecessors:
  • First is its speed of installation - around 5 minutes versus 12 minutes for conventional systems. Components are clipped together by hand, while the tee piece is adjustable and therefore does not require any cutting or bending.

  • Secondly is the fact that STT offers a tool less installation. No welding is necessary and the plumber need not carry any heavy, cumbersome tools to the site.

  • Thirdly, STT can significantly reduce water hammer and system leaks - the most common call back problems for new homes.

  • STT is also extremely lightweight compared to its brass counterpart. This advantage becomes obvious during multi-level installations where the plumber has to carry multiple vanity sets to the site.

  • Finally, STT's spindle design, although based on conventional jumper valve technology, uses a unique thread which offers the half-turn benefits of ceramic disc. The longevity of the jumper valve is increased and the need for ongoing maintenance is decreased.

STT is regarded by many as the most exciting innovation in plumbing in several decades - and one which again puts Caroma at the forefront of worldwide technological development and product efficiency.
